Psychiatric and Psychological Consultation
Thymos – Medical Practice
During the psychological consultation we identify relevant information on the difficulties faced by the child, and his or her parents, as well as the course of the child’s prenatal development, infancy and subsequent years of life. Further appointments are devoted to broader psychological diagnosis, based on observation, interviews with parents and child, and, where agreed with the parents of the child, psychological evaluation. After completing the diagnostic and consultative meetings parents receive a report with suggestions for further action.
We offer our help in following problems:
-
Parent-child relationship problems,
-
Communication and Swallowing Disorders,
-
Specific speech articulation disorder,
-
Learning and memorizing difficulties.

Speech Therapy for children
After the initial screening for communication and swallowing disorders, we diagnose and advise on the management, intervention and treatment, as well as possibly recommending the provision of counselling or other therapies for communication and swallowing disorders. We may also recommend ways of improving the child’s vocabulary.
The treatment may include improvements to:
-
the process of sound production
-
resonance
-
intonation (variation of pitch)
-
respiration (including speech/respiration/swallowing synchronization)
-
chewing and swallowing
-
the manipulation of sound according to the rules of the language
-
constructing sentences in language
-
the interpretation of meaning from the signs or symbols of communication
-
telling stories based upon real life events or pictures/paintings and fantasy
-
the social aspects of communication, such as social verbal interaction between peers.
